This sweet, funny novel was inspiring. I wasn't looking for spiritual messages or the meaning of life, but the novel offers a great life philosophy. I loved how Elner lived her life and the examples of how one person can make a difference in the lives of others. We can impact more lives than we realize. Interesting that while I was reading the book, the Sunday sermon at church was on the same subject. So Dorothy and Raymond, message received. I just finished reading "Can't Wait to Get to Heaven" by Fannie Flagg, and I had to write a review immediately, to tell people to read this book. Although it's been published for several years already, and although I can see it's already been reviewed many times, I just have to add my bit.Fannie Flagg has done more than write an entertaining book here, she's written a love story to Life. I wish I had read this book years ago, after my mother passed away, when I was filled with doubt and despair. What is Life for? Why do we live it? What good is it when so many sad things happen? The answers to these questions and so many more (including which came first, the chicken or the egg!), are in this book. I don't think I've ever read a story so filled with joy.Others have written reviews that will give you a good idea of what it's about, I can only say, give the book a try. If you're not hooked within the first 20 pages, well....you just will be. And just when you think you know where the story is going, it takes a little turn.An absolutely lovely book, I would give it ten stars if I could.
